Speed up your browsing experience with Google Public DNS
Speed does matters when you think about an Internet Connection.Choosing right DNS (Domain Name Server) improves your Connection speed certainly.In brief DNS is, for converting your Domain names ( Urls ) into machine (such as networking equipment switches,Router..etc) readable ones (IP format) and vice-versa.
As Google says,Google Public DNS is to make the web fast.Try out this product and check weather your Internet Speed Gone Up or Not.
To use Google Public DNS configure your PC’s network settings DNS Server IP address to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4.
Configuration Settings :
- For Windows Vista Go to Control panel -> click Network and Internet->Network and Sharing Center->Manage network connections -> right-click Local Area Connection(choose required network to change)->click Properties -> Networking tab->click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)-> click Properties->Click Advanced ->select the DNS tab->here place the Google DNS servers IPs 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
- For Mac OS 10.5 Go to Apple Menu -> click system preferences -> click Network->select Connection -> click Advanced-> Select DNS tab -> Click + -> Add the Google DNS servers IPs 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 at top ->Click Apply and OK.
- For most of Linux OS Distributions DNS settings are configured through Network Manager.Goto System menu -> click Preferences -> click Network Connections -> Select the Connection ->Click Edit ->select the IPV4 Settings tab->DNS Server field enter the Google DNS servers IPs 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 -> Click Apply.(NOTE:If the selected method is Automatic (DHCP), open the dropdown and select Automatic (DHCP) addresses only instead. If the method is set to something else, do not change it)
All the above modifications requires administrator privileges.You must provide Administrator privilege passwords whenever your system asks for necessary modifications.
